Social changes and technological advances shaped high-rises between the 1890s and the 1970s. Explore the evolution of our skyline.
Construction technology allowed larger and larger buildings to be built on smaller and smaller sites,
and this tour showcases the architectural advances of designers including University of Washington's own Minoru Yamasaki,
designer of the World Trade Towers in New York City. Other points of interest include the King Street Station and the Jackson Federal Building.
This tour lasts approximately 2 hours and begins at in Pioneer Square at the Smith Tower, 502 2nd Ave at 10 am.
Advance registration is strongly encouraged; walk-ups are limited to space available. Tour is $15 in advance/$20 day of.
