Lions, Griffins, & Walruses, Oh My!
Co-sponsored by the Smith Tower's Chinese Room.
Examine the hidden life of buildings as we seek out intricate adornments and elaborate
embellishments. This is a "hands on" tour where you'll be able to look very closely at and touch the materials used to ornament a building.
You'll develop an appreciation for and understanding of the various types of stone, terra cotta, bricks and metals used by the architects and
you'll see how these choices add to the overall character of the structure. Tour includes a stop at the Smith Tower's Chinese Room.
This tour lasts approximately 2 hours and begins at the SAF Gallery, 1333 5th Ave, 3rd Floor, Rainier Square Atrium at 10 am.
Advance registration is strongly encouraged; walk-ups are limited to space available. Tour is $15 in advance/$20 day of.
