Seeing through Sketching
Widely used by the Beaux-Arts Academy in Paris, the Analytique is for those who love to draw, but are overwhelmed by "where to start."
This sketch tour includes classroom instruction and its in-depth focus on the Cobb Building will change the way you look at all buildings.
You'll learn Analytique basics, including how to identify the key details, proportions and patterns of a building and how to quickly translate these into beautiful, personalized sketches.
Instructor Jennifer Butler holds a Masters in Architecture with a concentration in Sacred Spaces from Catholic University. By day, she works as a green roofs consultant, helping architects and homeowners green up Seattle. By night, she is a set designer for Balagan Theatre and gives private drawing lessons in her studio overlooking Pugent Sound. She is passionate art, architecture and design in general and firmly believes that anyone with desire and a pencil can learn to draw.
Analytique includes both classroom and exterior sessions and lasts approximately three hours. It begins at the Rainier Square Atrium Conference Center (adjacent to the SAF Gallery) 1333 5th Ave; all materials and art supplies are included in the registration price. Advance registration is strongly encouraged; because of the individual attention provided day-of registrations are limited to space available. Tour is $30 in advance/$35 day of.
Upcoming Tour Dates:
2010: Saturday 4/10 (10 am) 7/17 (1 pm), 10/2 (10 am)
